ABOUT WIDO PUBLISHING LLC
WiDo (pronounced like 'widow') Publishing, centered in Salt Lake City, began with a few people passionate about books. They conceived of a company focused on finding promising manuscripts with strong stories and memorable characters. Not whether the authors had published or not, or whether the genres were what's hot.
The idea was to publish books that a variety of readers would like. And to make those books stand out through careful editing and awesome design. Then the sales would come. Because people enjoy a good read.
Our titles run the gamut from childhood memoir and historical fiction to Perilous by Tamara Hart Heiner, a YA action adventure, Cloak by James Gough, a middle-grade fantasy, and Tanned, Toned and Totally Faking It by Whitney Boyd, a chick lit novel due out early 2012.
What do they all have in common? Certainly not genre. We publish books that have found and will yet find a wide and varied audience, with that certain element that unites humankind-- a darn good story!
The wide variation makes marketing interesting. Each author comes prepared with a promotional plan. Our team will guide, assist and support in implementing the authors' marketing goals.
Some authors' strengths are in online promotion, others like to get out and meet people. No one plan works for each author and each book.
As a small, tight-knit organization, we are well-positioned to adjust to the major changes occurring in the publishing industry.
We started out selling to independent bookstores, finding the niche market for each of our titles as they came along. Sadly, many of these stores are now out of business. Even the long-established Borders in Murray, Utah, one of our strong supporters, has closed.
We regret the loss of so many bookstores. But we look ahead to a challenging new future that holds exciting possibilities for those willing to work hard with passion and guts.
Because people like a good story, and that will never change.
